Down but not out!

Good evening all, I write this post to keep you up to date on a minor disaster that has forced me

to cancel a few Walks & Talks, and also to assure you that happy days 'Out of Town'

will be back soon.

My problem at the moment is that my right knee cap needs replacing and and recently my right hip was added to the list so basically I cannot walk more than a few paces until at least the Spring.

However, there is a very exciting festival this coming weekend at Railway Land Lewes and if I have to go in a shopping trolley then I will and I hope to see all my Walks & Talks friends there too.

Actually there are other ways I, and perhaps you too, can get out to see things in nature ?

One of my favourite tricks at the moment is to ask a friend to help me to Lewes railway station and in return we then might have a coffee and cake in the station café 'The Runaway', a great place with fascinating old railway photos on the wall and lovely classical music playing. Just a few paces away is platform 3. Just look at the wonderful plants and insects that live there while waiting for the Seaford train. That journey, on one of the new trains to Seaford, is a delight, rain or shine. As well as the views river valley, Newhaven harbour and the sea, there is a very nice Bar/Café called 'Steamworks' on the Seaford platform. On the return trip look out of the other window, there's a completely different view and habitat on both sides of the track so the return journey is something to look forward to.

Why not take a bus and back to somewhere? a whole group of us could go to the sea side or how about a taxi to Lewes golf club for the best view and hear the call of the falcons for a short while?

Amazing adventure possibilities for anyone, especially for those who cannot walk but a few steps like me at the moment.

So, why not make a plan and, if you like, pick me up along the way?

I can bring photos and movies on my phone of natural history events and creatures that you might see during all the seasons and as ever I'm sure I will learn something from you too.

Bye for now and see you soon, Steve
