Gorgeous Goldcrest

This cute little bird was looking for insects under the bramble leaves overhanging the flooded Winterbourne stream in Railway Land Nature Reserve Lewes this afternoon on my lockdown walk. There were Chiffchaffs doing the same. The high water drives insects out of the lower foliage on the banks and up into higher cover despite the cold and those that don't make it are picked off by little fish in the stream. A fascinating afternoon!
