"It's not over yet...
During the past few weeks I was very lucky to have been at the right place at the right time and managed to get photos that I have been after for years. The mackerel and whitebait visible in breaking waves. This week I was lucky again!
I've been invited to have a stall at Greenhavens Network Harvest Festival Event in Newhaven.
It's the perfect venue for me to tell folk about what happens each year on their doorstep, on their beach actually.
The event at the Hillcrest centre is essentially a Seed Swap Day but there are all sorts of other things going on, so do pop in if you can and you'll get a warm welcome and a few surprises.
On my stall I will have mounted photos and gift cards for sale, mainly themed on the Newhaven and Seaford area and including Human activity as well as Natural History scenes, don't forget we are creatures too, just one of the many living things on our planet.
As most of you know, I take people out on natural history walks and talks all year, all over the place and on all different subjects but this one is rather special and entitled 'The Living Shoreline.
All year round the beach is a dynamic interface between land, sea and air but in Autumn the feeding frenzy there of the mackerel attacking the whitebait and all the other creatures in the food chain, can be a life changing event if you are there to witness it, especially if you are able to swim in amongst it. Well. remember that famous last minute commentary of the 1966 World cup final?
"Some people are on the pitch, they think it's all over..."
...it may not be all over yet!
The weather has changed, the wind has swung around, in a few days the water will clear and if my luck holds out there will be another chance to see the second half of this 'game'
